Edward J. Harris Bloomington- Edward James Harris (Bum Bum) 40, of Bloomington, passed away at 12:05 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal. He was born November 4, 1970 in Bloomington to Edward J. and Remelle (Johnson) Harris Sr. Surviving are his mother, Remelle (MacArthur) Edwards of Bloomington; three brothers, Rodney Harris, Azielis Phil Harris and Robert Aaron Harris all of Bloomington; maternal grandmother, Thelma Johnson-Kellum of Normal; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, maternal grandfather and both paternal grandparents. Edward graduated in 1989 from Bloomington High School. Edward loved fishing, video games, going out to eat and family gatherings. He enjoyed helping and mentoring others and was known as a “overall gentle giant” He was a member of the Loving Missionary Baptist Church in Bloomington where he loved to sing in the choir and sang gospel music with a group “The Bells of Joy”. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2011 at the Loving Missionary Baptist Church in Bloomington with Pastor William L. Johnson officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. prior to the services at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Bloomington. Kibler-Smith Memorial Home in Bloomington is handling arrangements.. Memorial may be made to the family. Online condolences may be sent to the family at kiblersmith.com.
