LORENE HODEL Roanoke - Lorene Hodel, 82, of rural Roanoke, passed away on Sunday August 24, 2008 at the OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born on July 26, 1926 in Eureka, IL to Ray and Ada Ulrich Reber. She married Robert Hodel on August 24, 1947 in Washington, IL. He survives. Also surviving are two sons, Neil (Lelia) Hodel of Roanoke; Paul Hodel of Chicago; two daughters, Deb (Mike) Leman of Aurora, CO; Ellen (Gordon) Brown of Springfield, IL; six grandchildren, Calla and Jenna Hodel; Caleb (Erin) Leman; Jacob, Joel, and Daniel Leman; two sisters, Marge Schrader of Germantown Hills; and Roberta (Lyle) Kennell of Benson. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Betty Schrader and one granddaughter Lindsay Hodel. Lorene was a devoted wife for 61 years. Her husband Bob is thankful for the life they lived together on the farm where she gave of herself raising their family. Lorene gave of her time by volunteering at the Bartonville Mental Hospital and also at OSF St. Francis for over 20 years. During that time she devoted a lot of her service to the hospice program. In her free time, Lorene loved sewing, making quilts and doing counter cross stitching. She was a member of the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Church where funeral services will be held at 10 am on Thursday August 28th. Church Ministers will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Wednesday at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke and from 9-9:45 am on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
