Russell M. Hartter, 55, formerly of Eureka, died at 8:50 a.m. Friday (May 29, 2009) in Florissant, MO, while surrounded by loved ones. He fought his battle with cancer valiantly. His visitation will be on Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Goodfield Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall in Goodfield, IL. Services will be held directly following, led by church ministers. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 at the Goodfield-Congerville Apostolic Christian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the charity of donor’’s choice. Russell was born on May 3, 1954, in Peoria, son of Richard and Ella Adams Hartter. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Petri, on June 10, 1992. She survives. Russell was adored by his family. Other survivors include his children Michael (Melissa) Miles and Lisa (William) Baker; grandchildren Peyton Miles, Reece Miles and Gwen Baker; his father Richard (Vena) Harrter; two brothers, Melvin (Elaine) Hartter, and Kenneth (Peggy) Hartter; three sisters, Eddis (Dennis) Blunier, Lucy (Daryl) Blunier and Beth (Jerry) Gouge; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother. Russell had a passion for life and expressed this through his frequent laughter and kindheartedness. He was an avid reader and aspiring writer. He also enjoyed St. Louis Cardinals baseball, NASCAR racing, and aviation. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and grandkids.
